Martí Serra is a renowned jazz saxophonist and composer in Catalonia, with five albums as a leader. He has played with some of the best jazz musicians in Spain, and also with international figures like Al Foster and Eddie Henderson. He is currently presenting his new quartet featuring three talented young players and improvisers of the amazing new generation of local jazzmen. The band plays Serra’s compositions and also versions of great composers like Shorter and Ellington. Serra’s original music has a wide palette of colours, from different roots and traditions, but with a compact and modern sound. A good sample of what’s going on in the great, yet sometimes unknown, jazz scene of Barcelona.
